You Were Made For...

Today's card is inspired by the current challenge over at My Favorite Things, the Birthday Project. The requirement this time around is that the card needs to be a Peek-a-Boo card, or have a surprise element. Oh do I struggle with such things. The following card is what I came up with. The general idea is that the "amazing" is revealed on the inside. I've used the below pictured stamp set called Oh So Succulent from Stampin' Up! (retired). The process to do two identical images, but one with color, was A LOT more work than I had anticipated. Masking and my Misti made it possible. The dotted background is from Altenew, called Watercolor Dots. Hope you like it.

Hello There! Floral Card

Another card for the Less is More challenge. If you recall from the last post the card needed to have dots and be one layer. The stamp set used here is from Altenew and called Peony Bouquet. The dots are from Altenew also and called Dainty Swiss Dots, I use this stamp a lot. I usually do the outline of these layered flowers with black.... this time I outlined it with the color that I stamped the image in. I rather like how it softens the look of the flower. I'll put this into practice much more. Try making a one layer card, it's a really challenging thing to do if you aren't accustomed to it.

I love that it's flower season,
Alicia

You Rock My World

I was going for an 80's flavor on this one, and I think I hit the mark. At least that is what my husband said. :) This card was inspired by a challenge of course, the Less is More challenge blog to be specific. They require lots of white space and this particular challenge was to include dots and be a one layer card. The cassette tape come from a Concord & 9th stamp set called Mix Tape.  Simple masking and my personal three color rule bring harmony to this card. My three color rule is broken off and on, but in general I stick to three colors. It seems to work for me.

I'm a 80's girl,

How Are You?

This card was a bit of a challenge for me. I thought I knew what I was doing when I started out on it, but I found out quickly that I was lost. At first I colored only the flowers, leaving the leaves empty and white. Which was cool looking, but I found it lacking when I put it on the white card stock. So I colored in the leaves, better. Then I added the yellow diagonal back ground. After I finally settled on a layout, which took forever, I really struggled with the greeting. After what seemed ages I thought to break up a phrase and put the little words in the open spaces. And FINALLY it was done. Whew. The floral set is from Altenew and called Flower Vine. Colors are Rich Razzleberry, Pistachio Pudding, Hello Honey and Sweet Sugarplum, all from Stampin' Up! The diagonal stripe background is from Stampin' Up! also, unfortunately retired. This card is headed off to the My Favorite Things  sketch challenge of the week.

I'm fine,

Heartfelt Thanks

Here are those colors again, this time minus the yellow and heavy on the Pistachio Pudding, a-la-Stampin' Up! The stamp set is from Altenew and it's called Ruffled Flowers.  Just a pretty little thank you card ready to go to someone I really appreciate.

And a heartfelt thanks to you,
Alicia

Hello There!

I've gone back to one of my favorite sets again, Simply Succulents from Pinkfresh Studio. The reason is the challenge over at The Card Concept - I've used five different colors on this little succulent grouping, so much fun to put together. A few different patterns were used to repeat the same colors below the focal point, while the hexagon frames it. I kept the greeting simple so that the stamping could remain front and center. The layout is inspired by Cas(e) this Sketch, it's a two for one today.

Hello is such a happy word,
Alicia

A Heartfelt Thank You

I'm just in love with these flowers from Altenew called Delicate Primrose. How pretty are they with all the layers put in place? I've used the same background image as I did in this post, it's from Simon Says Stamp and it's called Bohemian Lace. I've used these colors for several cards over the last few days, let's all hope I tire of them soon! I do like how the layout of this card worked-out. Again, I just started stamping flowers and after some fussing about I decided on the image in the background then the flowers found their home. It's wonderful when that happens. This little beauty is headed to the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes Challenge.

It's been a good day,
Alicia

I Love You More Than Cake

A playful card that puts for a pretty bold statement, "I love you more than cake". Now that is some serious love. lol. This stamp set from Altenew is so easy to put together, it's called Cake Love. I wanted to go vibrant with my colors, but not necessarily in-your-face vibrant. These colors could work for just about anyone, male or female. Great to have in my arsenal.

I'm putting this one into the Simon Says Stamp's weekly challenge themed Anything Goes.

You gotta be great to be better than cake,
Alicia

Hello

This card just made me smile while I made it. You know how that is sometimes? I love the colors... just love them. I didn't like this flower when I first got the stamp set but I had grown on me so much, I really like it. The flower is from an Altenew stamp set called Crown Bloom, the Hello comes from another Altnew set called Ruffled Flowers. The fantastic background image comes from Simon Says Stamp and it's called Bohemian Lace, love it! In case you are wondering the ink colors come from Stampin' Up! and are: Summer Starfruit, Raspberry Ripple and Sweet Sugarplum.

This particular design was inspired by My Favorite Things current sketch challenge:

Pickles and Ice Cream

My first attempt at a card that flips open like this one. I did ok until I had to put the black piece on the two back halves. I compensated for the circle on one half but forgot on the other. That put me in a spot, I had to maneuver around with my scissors like crazy. Not the cleanest card I've ever made, but I think it's pretty cute. A little more work with my Copic markers, practice makes perfect? I made (attempted) this card for the My Favorite Things Birthday Project. The theme is peek-a-boo surprise cards, thus the flip card. The stamp set is from Lil' Inkers and it's called Perfect Pairs 2. The die for the card is from Stampin' Up! called Circle Card Thinlets Die (retired), here's a picture - Enjoy!

Never tried pickles and ice cream,
